Just Ask at the TYA Conference
I have no idea how to summarize the experience that was being a part of Just Ask! This was truly a gift, and introduced me to a world of TYA theatre. I feel I have found my calling and am SO grateful to have gotten to tell this story in its first workshop, our run at the Coterie Theatre, and closing it off by performing in d.c at the TYA USA National Conference. not only did I get to perform with such beautiful humans, and getting to work alongside Justice Sonia. I’m still in disbelief that I got this opportunity to share this story of disability joy and show how the world can be more accepting. If there is something they don’t understand about each other, they can just ask. Thank you, Mark and Fran, for putting your trust in me as a performer, and Courtney, for trusting me to be our dance captain. This show helped me face my fears, be comfortable in sharing my stories, and taught me a lot about myself as a performer and person.
Cinderella: A Salsa Fairytale
I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the talented team at Coterie Theatre on their Latin-American adaptation of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella: A Salsa Fairytale as the Cinderella/Rosa Swing. Working alongside the brilliant director Vanessa Severo and composer Deborah Wicks La Puma was a true highlight - their vision for this fully bilingual production resonated with me and helped me feel more connected to my cultural heritage as I learned more about my culture for this show.
Just Ask! World Premiere
This has been the most accommodating and empowering show I’ve ever been in. My first professional contract out of college will be the one to stick with me forever. This was a once in a lifetime experience to be a part of a world premiere musical adaptation of a beloved children’s book. With a wonderful, creative team, we got to work with Justice Sonia, who helped us learn the importance of diversity, inclusion, and to just ask!
Oklahoma!
This November was my last Undergrad show at Dobbins Conservatory. I played Laurey Williams in Oklahoma, a dream role of a lifetime! I’m so grateful I got to work with such a talented cast.
Just Ask! Workshop
I had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the workshop for “Just Ask” with The Coterie Theatre, and it was a special and inspiring experience. Sharing the important story of children with different abilities working together and learning about each other's experiences was incredibly rewarding. Meeting Justice Sonia was a highlight of this experience, and it was particularly special to tell her how much of an inspiration she is to me as a Puerto Rican woman on the Supreme Court. It’s people like Justice Sonia who inspire me to be authentically me and know it’s okay to have different abilities.
This summer I got to be apart of the World Premiere of Lorene's Reverie by Grace Piper Fields. I got play the role of Agnes which was such a fun and challenging role to play. We got to perform this show on the Music Theater Heritage Main Stage, and it was such a gift to be a part of a New Work musical!
